Issue Position: My Priorities

Issue Position

My Thoughts on Several of Arizona's Top Priorities: I believe that Arizona has the potential to be a leader in the USA for the 21st century by creating a high quality of life for all our citizens. We'll do this through a pro-business economic climate, transparent and fiscally sound budgets, safe communities, strong schools at every level, and a secure national border.

Education & Jobs: While the jobs lost nationally during the great recession have been recovered in our nation, here in Arizona only 57% have returned. We can continue to do what we have been doing for the last 50 years (counting on net migration to Arizona) or we can face today's reality that we must offer a competitive alternative for businesses to chose Arizona and just importantly attract and retain 21st century knowledge workers. Lets come together to create the change we need (see Attracting Talent). The bottom line is that a significant level of the social costs we currently bear are the result of lack of jobs for our citizens. We need a vision for who we want to be as a state and a strategy that focuses and prioritizes the solutions to the issues supporting that strategy. We need to develop the talent in Arizona while attracting new talent to reinvigorate our industrial base.

Budget: I am a fiscal conservative that believes in transparency at every level of government. It is responsible and accountable to make decisions understanding the financial impact to taxpayers and consumers in current and future years.
